The cases were detected after the 8pm deadline on Sunday, and therefore were not announced in NSW Health's daily update.
All are believed to be linked to a single agricultural business and a confirmed case in Gunnedah announced on Sunday, Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said.
"We've been advised this morning that there are six cases in and around the Gunnedah LGA, a business in Gunnedah has reported that, and they have been in contact with NSW Health," Mr Anderson said.
"I've spoken personally with the business owners, they are doing everything they can to support their workers and the community.
"They are heartbroken that something like this has occurred in their business.
"Yesterday they took the precautionary measure of shutting down their business and deep cleaning and making sure that all their workers were tested."
The case was infectious in the community, with a number of exposure sites listed by Hunter New England Health.
A NSW Health panel will meet this afternoon to assess the risk to the community and make a determination on lockdown.

"I want to give a huge shout out to Laverty Pathology, who today on a public holiday reopened to make sure that people had the opportunity to get tested."
