The majority of the fleet were out of operation on Monday, causing problems for the community that relies on the service to take them to crucial engagements and doctors' appointments.

At TAMS 21 tyres were slashed, while around a further dozen were damaged next door at the Tamworth and Armidale Aboriginal Children's Service.

TAMS director Damion Brown said the incident was incredibly disruptive and it's disappointing someone would target the organisation.

"It's certainly unproductive on the background of needing all of my cars tomorrow [Tuesday] to move people around for the clinics," he said.

"It rendered all of our fleet bar two inoperable so we couldn't transport people to their appointments, we were doing hospital transports and they were all squashed because of that."

Fortunately the service was able to act swiftly and deal with the situation, meaning transport to and from vaccination clinics should not be affected.

"We spoke early this morning [Monday] so we had someone on the ground here at about quarter to eight," he said.

"We're just prioritising some of our vehicles that we use frequently."

Tamworth police have said the incident is still under investigation.
