*RACE 1 @ 1.45pm REGIONAL MAINTENANCE COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE (1200m) - Set Weights; Apprentices Can Claim:
Tricky sprint to get us underway on a strong card for feature Spring Cup day. Very much liked the latest trial of Vancouver three-year-old 14. THE MYSTERY GUY (John Ramsay/Daniel Northey; 56.5kg) who sat behind the speed over-racing a little, but still found the line nicely. Finished well back from the winner, but came through horribly chopped up ground and was strong through the line. Debuts in blinkers, and draws to get to the outside.
*MAIN DANGERS: Expect four-year-old 7. Circularity to improve off a game effort first-up for more than a year, with blinkers coming off, although drawn off the track. Was scratched from Bathurst on Sunday to run here. Consistent albeit limited five-year-old 5. Castlehyde was rolled as a hot favourite in a weaker race, but he's honest and draws a softer gate. Keep safe five-year-old 9. Kneze first-up from a low barrier with winkers added; and local four-year-old 11. Sapello who will be running home strong second-up.
Likely Tempo: Good
My Betting Attack: THE MYSTERY GUY Each Way & Trifecta: 5,7,14/5,7,9,11,14/5,7,9,11,14

*RACE 2 @ 2.25pm DUTTON ELECTRICAL FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE (1200m) - Set Weights; Apprentices Can Claim:
Now the girls get their turn, and there are plenty of chances in a tough and wide race. Keen on provincial-based Shooting To Win three-year-old 12. SEBRINI (Kris Lees/Mitchell Bell; 55.5kg) who resumes behind two progressive trials, strong through the line in the latest. Made up plenty of ground in two runs through late autumn, and should get enough speed on here to chase them down.
*MAIN DANGERS: Not sure of improving mare 6. Obey will back up in three days, but she is desperate for this longer trip at her fifth start after having little or no luck getting home in her last couple. Improving provincial four-year-old 7. So Sassy has trialled in dominant fashion since a fair return effort in a smarter field seven weeks ago. Has to overcome a tricky gate, but blinkers have been added. Watch the betting on lightly raced four-year-old 1. Angela Sistina who resumes from a wide draw off a nice trial, and has a little touch of class in this grade. Local four-year-old 3. Ishim has been freshened up, and is over the odds after sticking on strong here five days ago; while keeping safe emerging three-year-old 15. Topender who can improve second-up coming through a handy maiden.
Likely Tempo: Solid to Good
My Betting Attack: SEBRINI Each Way and First Four: 1,6,7,12/1,3,6,7,12,15/1,3,6,7,12,15/1,3,6,7,12,15
*RACE 3 @ 3.05pm COOL BLUE ICE CLASS 2 HCP (1200m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices can Claim:
Committed fan of progressive Foxwedge four-year-old 4. BOOM BOOM BASIL (Kody Nestor/Anthony Cavallo; 59kg) who is primed to strike second-up over a little more ground. Found the line okay from midfield in a deeper affair, and capped a brief autumn prep working home in a much stronger Randwick Highway. Sparingly raced and headed for bigger targets down the track.
*MAIN DANGERS: Improving four-year-old home track mare 10. Mook's Sister is the immediate threat from the inside barrier after sweeping home to upset a handy CL1 field two weeks ago. Big watch on under-rated four-year-old 3. Pyrmont who has plenty of ability, and resumes for a new country stable, but has to off-set a tough draw. Provincial four-year-old 7. Apache Blue can peak fourth-up, although was flat after doing some work early here a fortnight back; while including local six-year-old 5. Pass The Card in exotics third-up.
Likely Tempo: Solid
My Betting Attack: BOOM BOOM BASIL to WIN
*RACE 4 @ 3.40pm FURNEYS STOCKFEEDS BENCHMARK 58 HCP (1600m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Competitive battle for this grade over the mile. Tough six-year-old 3. OLLIVANDER (Garry Lunn/Clayton Gallagher; 60.5kg) should boast a much better winning strike rate ahead of his 38th start, and will get a good run on-speed from the inside gate. Has built a solid record over this distance, and a far superior jockey change is a big plus.
*MAIN DANGERS: Under-rated five-year-old 11. Forever Jude can peak third-up over a longer trip. Improving mare 12. Gold Lunar is on a quicker back-up; while included in wider exotics honest five-year-old 5. Scatman who has placed twice from three starts here; and home track seven-year-old 9. Poet Lad who is deep into the prep.
Likely Tempo: Fair to Reasonable
My Betting Attack: OLLIVANDER to WIn
*RACE 5 @ 4.15pm THREAD EFFECTS CLASS 1 HCP (1400m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
This stacks up nicely for progressive four-year-old provincial mare 2. VISCERAL (Nathan Doyle/Koby Jennings; 56.5kg) who loomed up stylishly and looked home for all money at Coffs in a similar race but somehow couldn't get past the leader. Strikes peak fitness here fourth-up, and drawn to get a soft run from the inside barrier just off the speed.
*MAIN DANGERS: Progressive four-year-old mare 5. Zouflu surged home to beat a promising one two starts back before failing to run home on a very poor surface at Nowra. Better suited here, and looks nicely treated at the weights. Expect sharp improvement second-up from four-year-old 3. Apache Red getting on a much firmer surface. Improving four-year-old mare 6. Rainbow Rocket is on the next line after breaking his maiden at third start; while included in exotics improving five-year-old 7. Unrestricted over a bit more ground fourth-up.
Likely Tempo: Solid
My Betting Attack: VISCERAL to WIN & Quinella: 2 and 5
*RACE 6 @ 4.50pm TAB.COM.AU SPRING CUP (1200m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
The feature race is a high class battle of tactics and tempo, naturally with plenty of chances. Promising and rejuvenated home track six-year-old 7. MY BENALLA (Sue Grills/Rory Hutchings; 57.5kg) roared back from nearly 20 months off with an impressive and fast finishing win in BM 66 grade at Scone. Given three weeks since, with a significant weight drop for this tougher grade, and is bred to get over far more ground. Burst on to the scene as a three-year-old winning four of his five before struck tendon trouble. Wears protective front bandages now, but looks to have returned in great order, and can power on to a metropolitan start if he puts this lot to the sword.
*MAIN DANGERS: Plenty of them, headed by imported five-year-old 3. Visinari who has his first run as a gelding in more than a year. Form up to Group 2 level in the UK was rock solid, and recently trialled impressively. Local iron mare 5. Cassy's Sister is on the six day back-up after boxing on strong from the front in a handy provincial BM 68. Another one on Australian debut as a gelding for the leading local stable, ex-Kiwi five-year-old 6. Edit has been fitted with two progressive trials, and started favorite in five of his six runs back across the Tasman, winning twice.
Likely Tempo: Solid to Good
My Betting Attack: MY BENALLA to WIN and Trifecta: 3,7/3,5,6,7/3,5,6,7
*RACE 7 @ 5.25pm COURTHOUSE HOTEL TAMWORTH CLASS 3 HCP (1000m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Good competitive and open sprint to finish. Lightly raced seven-year-old provincial mare 10. MISS DEVINCI (Gregory McFarlane/Christian Reith; 55kg) can go back-to-back after landing a weaker sprint second-up. This is tougher, but she has enough tactical speed and scope for improvement sitting on the limit weight.
*MAIN DANGERS: Capable five-year-old mare and proven weight carrier 1. Tango Stepz can be hard to catch, but she won her only previous start at this track when resuming two runs ago, and draws to get a nice run behind the speed. Keep safe five-year-old stallion 5. Witness Collector who has enough early speed to overcome a horror draw, and boasts a tidy third-up record. Under-rated four-year-old mare 8. Invincible Ninja found Highway company a bit rich third-up, but she's capable back in this grade with a 3kg claim; while including improving mare 11. Upside in exotics.
Likely Tempo: Good to Strong
My Betting Attack: MISS DEVINCI Each Way and Trifecta: 1,5,10/1,5,8,10,11/1,5,8,10,11
