But to help celebrate it's 50th birthday, organisers are singing out for boots on the ground to direct visitors to the best gigs, events and food and help spread the festival vibes.
Applications are now open to volunteer for the 10-day event as a festival ambassador, with plenty of perks on offer.
Council's coordinator of volunteer services Eleze Drew said being an ambassador is a fun way to be part of an iconic event and meet new people.
"We're looking for existing volunteers or new volunteers to help provide information, advice and assistance to visitors and locals during the festival," she said.
"We have a number of shifts across four locations, so we're looking upwards of 40 to 50 volunteers and we'll take more if they're available."
Organisers would like to see more young people and school leaders come on board, with benefits including free training, bus passes during the festival and entry to VIP spaces at Bicentennial Park.

"We've tried it once before and it was great support to the festival's event planners to have people on the ground who can direct visitors to particular events, locations and understand where things are," Ms Drew said.
Successful ambassadors will work in teams of two or three during three to four hour shifts at Tamworth Visitor Information Centre, Peel Street, Festival HQ at Ray Walsh House and Bicentennial Park.
Applications are open now, and training begins in November and December.
Get your applications in by October 21, 2021 by registering through the 'RU Volunteering' website.
The 2022 festival runs from Friday, January 14 to Sunday, January 23.
