POLICE have issued a firearm and ammunition ban to a local man they claim is a member of an outlaw motorcycle gang.

Oxley police officers pulled a Nissan Navara over near Quirindi on Wednesday morning.
The 26-year-old man was driving the vehicle along the Kamilaroi Highway just after 7:30am when he was stopped by police.
The man was then issued with a firearms prohibition order, according to Oxley police.

The order generally means the person cannot legally access firearms, or guns, as well as ammunition.
Police searched the man as well as his vehicle at the time.
The man was then escorted by police to a home in Qurindi, about an hour south of Tamworth, and the residence was raided, according to police.
Officers allegedly uncovered cash and cannabis during the search.
Police said these items were seized by officers and will be forensically examined as part of an investigation.
Police confirmed investigations are continuing.
