Northwest Health's Dr Ian Kamerman said Pfizer supply has been ramped up across town, with their clinics vaccinating hundreds each day.

"Along with the other general practices in town, the Northwest Health Vaccination Centre has been granted an increased supply," he said.

"Currently we are vaccinating 200 to 300 per day, seven days per week, we could do more if we had more vaccines."

At the moment, Pfizer bookings are being accepted at Northwest Health's East Tamworth, Calala and Werris Creek clinics on a week-by-week basis.

Dr Kamerman said their GP network is avoiding walk-in vaccination clinics because they can see a lot more patients if they complete the paperwork prior to attending.

"Which means we can essentially double the amount of vaccinations we do per day," he added.

"The other issue that we have with walk-ins would be opening in a COVID safe manner."

According to NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro, access to the Pfizer vaccine is set to increase in regional NSW, with more doses to be made available to GPs later this month.

Pharmacies will also start delivering Moderna from September 20, which is an mRNA vaccine similar to Pfizer.

Just like Pfizer, Moderna will be offered to anyone between the ages of 12 to 59, with AstraZeneca still the recommended vaccine for people over 60.

Mr Barilaro said while Australia currently has a shortage of Pfizer supply, regional areas aren't being disadvantaged because "someone is holding back the vaccination".

"There was a big push of Pfizer into Sydney but that was an additional supply of Pfizer by the Federal Government - 530,000 doses - that went into Western and South Western Sydney," he said during a regional media briefing on Tuesday.

"That was deliberate because we had the major outbreak because if you don't control that, you don't control anything in the state and I think no one argues with that approach but the rest of our Pfizer supplies continued on as usual."

In the meantime, he encouraged anyone eligible to take advantage of AstraZeneca, as "there is currently an oversupply".
