*RACE 1 @ 1.40pm ALLSOPP SIGNS BENCHMARK 66 HCP (2100m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Tough eight-year-old 2. ITASCA (Scott Singleton/Reece Jones a0kg; 60kg) finds his easiest race since storming home to win here three runs back. Has been solid enough finishing midfield in two runs since, and trainer has reapplied the blinkers among a string of gear changes.
*MAIN DANGERS: Capable five-year-old mare 5. Birdonawinningpost reboots after missing the run in Friday's abandoned Tuncurry Cup. Blinkers come off but a concern running out this trip three weeks between runs.
Likely Tempo: Fair
My Betting Attack: ITASCA to WIN
*RACE 2 @ 2.20pm ADVANCED SECURITY GROUP MAIDEN PLATE (1000m) - Set Weights; Apprentices Can Claim:
Emerging Panzer Division four-year-old 3. FIENDISH (Paul Messara/Grant Buckley; 59kg) can strike at his second start. Was heavily backed when working home late in a handy maiden here on debut, and with that experience and a more senior rider going on, he's the one to beat.
*MAIN DANGERS: Big watch on comeback Zoustar mare 7. Lopez who hasn't raced for 14 months, but is in good hands; while included in exotics at a big price home track five-year-old 6. Twin Seas second-up.
Likely Tempo: Solid to Good
My Betting Attack: FIENDISH to WIN & Quinella: 3 & 17
*RACE 3 @ 2.55pm HYGAIN MAIDEN HCP (1200m) - Min Weight 56.5kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Debutant Flying Artie three-year-old 5. ANG POW (William Freedman/Brandon Griffiths; 56.5kg) is another one who missed a start at Tuncurry, but is even better suited here. Comes in off two progressive trials, and draws to get a soft run.
*MAIN DANGERS: Consistent local mare 8. Ishim hasn't been far away in two runs back, and can peak here, although will need to tuck in from a wide draw. Expect second-up improvement from 9. Sterny Bear who drops back from a tougher provincial race; while watching the betting on resuming three-year-old filly 13. Topender who has been given two steady trials.
Likely Tempo: Solid
My Betting Attack: ANG POW to WIN
*RACE 4 @ 3.35pm CARLTON DRY BENCHMARK 58 HCP (1600m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Competitive battle over the mile with several chances. Despite a 4kg weight rise, local five-year-old 2. ONEMORECHOICE (Troy O'Neile/Rory Hutchings; 60kg) is ready to win fourth-up off a six week break with a superior and much stronger rider taking over. Worked home nicely here last time in a much deeper race, and all his best form is on home track.
*MAIN DANGERS: Improving four-year-old mare 11. Gold Lunar charged home to win her maiden second-up at Narromine, although far from convinced the inside draw does her racing pattern any favours around here. Keep safe five-year-old and last start BM 58 winner 4. Scatman who draws to get a nice run just off the speed. Honest eight-year-old 8. Danspur has won his last two in weak country grade, but does get a significant weight drop for this much tougher test. Underrated home track seven-year-old 6. Poet Lad has only missed narrowly in his last two at Class 2 level, but won't be easy finding a position from the second widest gate.
Likely Tempo: Reasonable to Solid
My Betting Attack: ONEMORECHOICE to WIN
*RACE 5 @ 4.10pm SHAY BRENNAN CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 2 HCP (1200m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Plenty of chances in this one too headed by capable six-year-old 3. THE FOSSIL (Sam Kavanagh/Rory Hutchings; 58.5kg) who can make it two from his last three. Flew home to win a Class 1 at Gunnedah two runs back before a gallant closing effort in a much tougher Saturday Highway at Kembla.
*MAIN DANGERS: Progressive provincial four-year-old 5. Apache Blue will need to slot in from the wide barrier, but he's ready to win third-up over more ground. Has twice done her best work late in similar races, and can be ridden a little quieter here over a further 200m. Keep safe lightly raced five-year-old 1. Chewie Two who resumes behind two solid trials; while improving mare 8. She's Spicy is clearly the best of the rest.
Likely Tempo: Solid
My Betting Attack: THE FOSSIL to WIn & Trifecta: 3,5/1,3,5,8/1,3,5,8
*RACE 6 @ 4.45pm TAB.COM.AU OPEN HCP (1000m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Good sprint here, although no small task trying to stop lightly raced local six-year-old and hot favourite 9. I'M A CRACKER (Luke Morgan/Jackson Searle a2kg; 55kg) who comes off a dominant Class 2 win here, and is the best weighted runner all day after the rider's claim. Hasn't finished further back than second in four runs this prep, and draws the inside.
*MAIN DANGERS: Doubt there are any, but improving provincial five-year-old 6. Oslo is one of a few over the odds second-up after working home okay in a good quality BM 74 at Taree. Included in exotics tough five-year-old 8. Bengalla Boy who resumes off a smart trial win.
Likely Tempo: Solid
My Betting Attack: I'M A CRACKER to WIn and Trifecta 9/6,8/6,8
*RACE 7 @ 5.20pm TEAM THOROUGHBRED NSW CLASS1 HCP (1000m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
We close the meeting with a good quality dash for this grade. Progressive Epaulette three-year-old 3. ZAKOR (Jan Bowen/Reece Jones a0kg; 57.5kg) looms as the one to beat after one run back. Stuck on fairly resuming in a deeper Class 1, and only previous win from four starts came here second-up.
*MAIN DANGERS: Home track mare 6. Just Too Sweet gave nothing else a chance from the front on debut at Gilgandra, and can give this a shake at the weights. Local four-year-old 1. Mystery Lad upset the market big time on debut here spearing through from well back to win at big odds. Faces a decent class rise, and is drawn off the track.
Likely Tempo: Solid to Good
My Betting Attack: ZAKOR to WIN
