Armidale trainer Mark Gwynne has been suspended for 22 months for injecting a horse with stanozolol, a performance-enhancing anabolic androgenic steroid.

The hefty penalty was handed out at a Racing NSW stewards hearing, and relates to the steroid being administered to Bartandthequeen "on or around" December 11-12 last year.
The industry veteran pleaded guilty to four charges that carried suspensions ranging from four months to 18 months.

He received an 18-month suspension for administrating an anabolic androgenic steroid and a four-month suspension for providing false evidence on July 8 to Racing NSW stipendiary steward Ben Pearce and official veterinarian Dr Rose Bensley.
The penalties for charges one, two and three will run concurrently while the penalty for charge four - providing false evidence - will run cumulatively.
Gwynne's suspension expires on July 9, 2023, when he can reapply for his licence.
At the same hearing on Thursday, veterinarian Dr Ronald Raymer was suspended for 12 months.
Bartandthequeen - a six-year-old gelding with one win from 17 starts - was barred from racing for 12 months. The suspension ends on December 12.
