Scone trainer Brett Cavanough has informed Racing NSW stewards that It's Me - who took out the race last year - will not be in the running for a slot.
The ownership group has instead made the decision to target other races throughout the spring carnival.
Cavanough has advised Racing NSW It's Me had not had any training setback and he was pleased in her preparation thus far.
Meanwhile, the only confirmed runner to gain a spot in The Kosciuszko as of 4.30pm on Thursday was Handle The Truth, trained by Keith Dryden.
A number of local trainers have horses that are in the market for the $1.3 million race but punters will have to wait and see if any of them gain a spot.
Tamworth Jockey Club general manager Michael Buckley said having horses in the mix was a reflection of the strength of trainers in the country music capital.
"We've got a great group of trainers here that punch well above their weight category," he said.
"You see a horse like Tavion Prince that Craig Martin and his owners have raced for a while, they've seen a weakness in Queensland racing and have gone up and their horse has raced up there in Brisbane with a bit of success.
"And its not uncommon for Cody Morgan to send a horse over to Queensland or in a highway on a Saturday in Sydney as well.
"It's probably recognition of how well our trainers here go in Tamworth."
