Tamworth Regional Council will construct several new water and sewer connections in mains near Country Road, Gunnedah Road and Goddard Lane.
The new connections will help accommodate for new developments in Westdale, including the suburb's huge new Global Gateway Park industrial estate.
The council warned locals they may experience a temporary reduction in water pressure, or possible intermittent water outages on September 12.
Works are scheduled to occur between 6am and 6pm, but it's hoped the works can be completed by late afternoon, which will see normal supply returned earlier.
During the day residents may also experience discoloured water due to changes in normal flow conditions.
Even discolored, the water will remain drinkable, will still meet Australian drinking water guidelines, and should improve as the day goes on.
Council planned the works for a Sunday in an effort to minimise the impact on local businesses.
