Carl Shane Hames, 43, has been behind bars since his arrest in July, and did not appear in Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Rob Baillie asked the court for an adjournment to allow investigators to hand evidence over to the state prosecuting authority, the DPP.
"The police officer has got back onto me ... he's going to endeavour to do that," Sergeant Baillie told the court.

"So there's a brief [of evidence] but it's not compliant at this stage because it needs to be reviewed," magistrate Julie Soars said.
She adjourned the matter for three weeks. Bail was formally refused.
Police claim the older man went to a home on Bent Street on the afternoon of June 19, when he met with a woman and man he didn't know.
The police case is that Hames then demanded cash and threatened the elderly man, who obliged and left the scene.
Police claim the 72-year-old man was at a home on Edinburgh Street less than a week later when Hames emerged from a room and allegedly threatened him with a machete and cut his hand while demanding cash.
Hames is accused of stealing the man's bank card and withdrawing cash shortly after, before the older man was driven to hospital.
Oxley police arrested Hames in early July.
He faces charges of take or detain in company with intent to gain advantage, occasioning actual bodily harm; demand property with menaces with intent to steal; and reckless wounding in company.
No pleas have been entered.
