A 25-YEAR-OLD man has been refused bail after he allegedly broke in and stole the keys to a silver Mazda while a woman and her child were at home.

Oxley Police District officers were in the midst of COVID-19 public health order compliance patrols when they attempted to stop a silver Mazda on Cossa Street, Tamworrth.
Police claim the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit started through Tamworth before it was terminated due to safety concerns.
Shortly after 5pm, Porter was arrested at a home on Tingira Street and taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with a slew of offences.
The Mazda was found on the same street.
Porter faced Tamworth Local Court on Friday, charged with police pursuit failing to stop and driving dangerously; taking and driving a car without the consent of the owner; driving disqualified; stealing property in a house less than $2000; contravene AVO and stalk and intimidate.
Police claim Porter forced entry to a home on Marshall Place in Tamworth, where the woman and child were unharmed.
Porter pleaded not guilty to the police pursuit and taking the car without consent. He pleaded guilty to driving disqualified.

Porter was on bail for an unrelated matter, his bail was revoked. The matter returns in September.
