Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) has called the incident 'annoying' and is warning people not to do it again.

Saturday's incident follows a similar event last week when burnouts were performed at the riverside fields over the space of a few of nights.

TRC sports and recreation operations manager Anton Logan has again voiced his frustration at the destructive tactic.

"This is the fourth time in two weeks now that they've damaged the fields," he said.

"It's frustrating that it seems like we're on a merry-go-round, we keep doing the same thing, it's deja vu.

"Just find something else to do on a weekend, or late at night."

The vandalism is costing the community significant time and effort, he said, with last week's event alone set to cost thousands of dollars to fix.

CCTV footage of the incident has been passed onto police, which will now work to identify the vehicles and people involved.

"We're still making inquiries through Tamworth Regional Council for some information and footage about that incident, and we'll be doing a follow up," Inspector Michael Moy said.

Despite the string of attacks, Mr Logan said there is little council can do to prevent it happening.

"The perpetrators that want to do these sort of things, a fence or a bollard isn't going to stop them," he said.

"They just drive through the bollard or break a fence, it's an attitude thing."

He said installing any further barriers would only inconvenience the community who attend the ground to watch games and staff who maintain the fields.

Mr Logan said the likes of fences, chains and bollards which have been installed in surrounding towns such as Manilla and Barraba have been badly damaged, which means even more money has to be spent on repairs.
