Cr Tickle and councillor Juanita Wilson were the brains behind a 2018 plan to create a canopy of deep-planted trees in Tamworth.
Both were on the job on Marius Street on Saturday, a day before National Tree Day.
Cr Tickle said it's been a productive six months, given the prevailing wet weather.
"Together with the community we've made amazing progress," she said.

"The season has certainly been on our side, so we're looking forward to a lot more Spring plantings. Community groups have also committed to look after the trees. That's very important, that the maintenance is kept up.
"Our aim is to green and cool Tamworth region."
Four councillors helped plant 40 trees on the median strip on Marius Street.
Cr Tickle said the abundant brass proved the council's commitment to the scheme.
