The Kangaroos registered just two wins in the shortened 2020 season where they missed the finals for the second year in a row.
In 2021, they have 10 wins from 14 games and sit atop the men's ladder with one round remaining.
A mix of players old and new alongside a healthy injection of youth, all playing their part in the rejuvenation of the side.
Something Kangaroos co-coach Ben Mitchell is more than happy to see and be a part of.
"It's great to see the club bounce back from a tough couple of years," Mitchell said.
"Very good reward for the blokes that have toughed it out."
The Kangaroos aren't the only Tamworth team who have found their feet.
The Swans snapped a two-game losing streak last weekend when they beat New England to secure their spot in the top four.
It means both the Kangaroos and Swans will play finals in 2021 - the first time both men's teams have made the finals since 2010.
But, before the finals kick off, the Tamworth teams clash on Saturday in the last regular round match for the season.
Mitchell said "a lot rides on this weekend".
A win for the Roos would assure them the minor premiership.
For the Swans, a win could see them finish as high as second on the ladder.
Both sides will want the momentum a win would give them leading into the finals.
"The Swans, we've played twice already this year and had two really close games," Mitchell said.
"The Swans have been unlucky not to get wins but close games against quality opposition is what we want.
"Going into the finals, you want to be playing against the best teams, which, I think the Swans are right up there. So it's a good stepping stone for a finals series."
Mitchell said it was good to see the Tamworth clubs going well and he also thought the league was in a good spot.
"It's great for Tamworth AFL to have a couple teams going well and not necessarily just the Tamworth sides going well. I think the competition as a whole is going really well," he said.
"It's good to see the women's and the juniors coming along well. I think that has a flow on effect with the men's teams."
The women's teams hit the paddock at 1.30pm on Saturday while the men's sides will play at 3.30pm
