A POLICE pursuit through the Tamworth CBD has ended in a woman's arrest a short time after officers were forced to abandon the chase.

The 20-year-old woman had her license suspended and is facing a string of charges after police homed in on her in Oxley Vale a short time after the pursuit was called off on Wednesday afternoon.
Police allege a man behind the wheel of a grey sedan swapped seats with his female passenger when the car was stopped by police for a random breath test on Armidale Road, about 4:30pm.
Officers tried to arrest the man at the time, but the car drove off and fled, according to police.

Police claim a pursuit was then sparked and continued through the Tamworth CBD, where the car allegedly crashed into a parked car before being driven away again.
Police were then forced to abandon the pursuit due to safety concerns.
Officers continued to search for the pair and found the grey Nissan Dualis parked on Mountview Crescent in Oxley Vale a short time later, where police claim they discovered a toddler in the back seat of the car.
Police said the young child was not injured.
A 20-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station.
She was charged with police pursuit; using an offensive weapon in company to prevent detention; resisting or hindering police in execution of their duty; not stopping a vehicle when directed to; driving in a manner dangerous; and not giving particulars to other drivers.
The woman was granted strict conditional bail and was ordered to front Tamworth Local Court next month.
Police are still searching for the man allegedly involved in the incident, and are urging anyone with information, CCTV footage or dashcam footage to contact local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
