MORE than 20 firefighters rushed to contain a fire on the second floor of a South Tamworth apartment building on Wednesday afternoon.

Four crews and a senior officer of Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) were called to the scene on Duri Road shortly after 3pm.
On arrival, crews found flames and smoke billowing out of the second story of the property.
The teams worked quickly to contain the blaze, which was extinguished by 3.40pm, and the all clear was given shortly after 4pm.

There were concerns for one person's safety, but it is unclear whether the residents were home at the time of the fire.
Ambulance and police were also in attendance, and reported no injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
