The accused appeared in Tamworth Children's Court via video link from custody for the first time on Wednesday, more than a year after she was arrested and charged with murder.
Much of the details of the highly confidential, closed court case cannot be reported due to legal reasons, including the identity of the teenager and the alleged victim's injuries.

"Not guilty," Ms McAuliffe said.
The teenager will face an arraignment hearing in the NSW Supreme Court later this year, Ms Soars said.
"I will be committing this matter to the Supreme court for trial," she said.
A strict suppression order was set down soon after the teenager was charged, and Ms Soars reinforced it to members of the media in court.

Even the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) solicitor Cat McKay appeared via telephone and not video for the mention on Wednesday, to "keep the confidentiality of the link", Ms Soars said.
Detectives allege the teenager murdered another girl at a property near Gunnedah on the morning of July 8, last year.
The accused was arrested and charged by police at a farm later that morning and has remained in custody since. No bail application has been made.
The case was adjourned to the NSW Supreme Court in September.
The court previously heard the matter had been delayed by staff issues in the DPP's office, but was now ready to proceed more than a year after the alleged incident.
