And, a TV chef and farm-fresh food guru is looking forward to "having a play with some local produce" to help celebrate its launch.
Harvest Gunnedah will be "a feast for the senses" when local food and beverage producers set up their displays at Gunnedah Riverside Racecourse on Saturday, October 2.
Headlining the festival is Paul West, a highly respected chef from the NSW South Coast who is passionate about sustainable food production, producing and buying local food and the delicious culinary creations that can result.
He has hosted the popular TV series River Cottage Australia and is also an ABC presenter for Gardening Australia, Back Roads and Catalyst TV programs and the author of two cook books.
Born just up the road in Murrurundi, he said he is looking forward to being closer to his home town and celebrating Harvest festival's first year.
"The area around Gunnedah is such a renowned food bowl," he said.
"It's such an abundant part of Australia with a long-standing agricultural heritage so for someone that likes to cook stuff, it's a really enticing area to come and visit.

West will also be doing some food demonstrations using local produce and showing people how he approaches cooking.
