The testing centre near the Gipps Street fields is privately-run by Laverty Pathology.
Given the current situation there has been a huge surge in COVID-19 testing across the state and a Laverty Pathology spokeswoman said it was processing a large number of tests.
"We are currently processing a record number of tests," she said.
"Tests are generally processed at our laboratory in Sydney, however, we are doing everything we can including leveraging other parts of our network to improve our turnaround and our teams are working around the clock to process results as quickly as possible.
"We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.
"The last thing we want to do is make these challenging times tougher."
