Women's bowlers from around the region converged on Tamworth last week hoping to roll their way to a shot at a state title next month.

The Zone 3 champions for singles, pairs, triples, fours and mixed pairs were decided over five days of action at South Tamworth Bowling Club with the various winners progressing to play in the women's state championships to be held back at South Tamworth from August 23 to September 1.
The honours were shared around amongst the clubs.

Narrabri's Lorraine Scott was victorious in the singles over Armidale Ex-Services' young gun Brit Camp, who was recently named in the NSW/ACT Emerging pathways squad, 25-14.
Delungra's Amanda Hawke and Karen Moxey will represent the zone in the open pairs after defeating West Tamworth's Lyn Evans and Sherilee Stewart. Inverell Sporties' Rhonda Hutton and Mauryeen Kennedy won the senior pairs from the Lightning Ridge combination.
In the triples the West Tamworth combination of Carolynn Whitten, Terri-Ann Ferguson, and Sherilee Stewart prevailed over Hutton, Kennedy and Patricia Brooks (Inverell) 21-16.
The Narrabri quartet of Helen Woodward, Dawn Armstrong, who turned 90 the day before, Cindy Neil and Eva Sadler were too strong for Bingara in the senior fours taking the win 25-3, while the South Tamworth four of Cath Verdich, Linda O'Reilly, Deb Quick and Chris Myers, who was backing up from playing at the Australian Open, had a 22-14 win over Wee Waa in the opens.
Quick also had success in the mixed pairs with Brad Hogan. The home team duo were the only to win all three of their games. Hutton and Dennis Williams finished runners-up.
