Dylan Fisher, 26, appeared in Tamworth Local Court via video link from Goulburn Correntional Centre, where he has been behind bars since his arrest in February.
His solicitor Rasha Shammas strongly opposed the Crown's application for a month-long adjournment in the case, and argued two weeks was more appropriate.

"It's not a complex matter," she told the court, pointing to the lone wounding charge against her client.
"Four weeks, in my opinion, is absolutely ridiculous for charge certification purposes."
DPP solicitor Max Dixon told the court the case was still being considered by prosecutors.
Magistrate Julie Soars ultimately adjourned the case for four weeks, and said she didn't want to "cut [the DPP] short".
"Noting the defendant is in custody, I mark it must proceed on the next occasion," she said.
She told the court the adjournment would "put pressure" on prosecutors to progress the matter to charge certification, where the DPP will confirm which allegation they will proceed with.
Fisher has been charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm - an offence that carries a maximum of 25 years' imprisonment, if convicted. He has not been required to enter a plea.
His solicitor made no application for his release and bail was formally refused.
Fisher was arrested shortly after a confrontation off Goonoo Goonoo Road in the early hours of February 20.
The Tamworth man is accused of knifing a 41-year-old man in the torso, who was later found at the nearby Coles service station with stab wounds and rushed to Tamworth hospital.
The police case is that the stabbing was not random and the men were known to each other.
The case was adjourned to late July.
