AN ELDERLY woman has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after she was reportedly charged and trampled by a cow at a property north of Tamworth on Thursday.

Ambulance paramedics rushed to the scene at a Watsons Creek property on Manilla Road about 3pm, after reports a woman had been injured.
The 80-year-old woman was treated at the scene for serious internal injuries, including to her chest, a spokesman for Ambulance NSW confirmed.

The Wesptac Rescue Helicopter was also tasked to the property with a medical team on-board to help treat and transport the patient.
Paramedics and the chopper's critical care team remained at the scene on Thursday afternoon as the woman was stabilised for transport.
She was airlifted directly to Tamworth hospital from the Watsons Creek property later that day for further treatment.
It is understood the 80-year-old woman was in a stable condition.
