A man will face court today after police allegedly discovered a "large quantity of drugs" during a search of his vehicle in the New England region.

Officers discovered about 9.3 kilograms of cannabis in a Toyota Landcruiser near Moree at about 12.pm on Friday, police said.
The 39-year-old driver had been travelling north on the Newell Highway when it was stopped by New England police.

Police discovered the cannabis divided into 20 clear backs located in a spare tyre strapped to the rear of the vehicle, according to New England police. He was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station.
New England police later executed a search warrant at a home on Burrington Road, Moree and located a flick knife, police claim.
The man was refused bail to appear in Moree Local Court on Saturday.
He will face charges of supplying cannabis of an indictable but less than commercial quantity, and of possessing a prohibited weapon contrary to a weapons prohibition order.
