And with a wet couple of days to come, coupled with an even wetter than normal July to September period predicted by the Bureau of Meteorology - the best is yet to come.

Things have changed a lot since the last time the dam was at 70 per cent in March 2018, Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) water sustainability officer Lou Cadell said.

"With the catchment being so drenched at the moment with snow and consistent rainfalls, it's really making an impact every time we do get rain in the catchment," he said.

"We are predicted to have a wet July to September period, the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting that so I would say that we'll continue to see some increases in Chaffey Dam.

"The great thing is the community is really engaged with the dam levels and I would love to see that continue because the more interested they are the more water-wise they will be and mindful of being water efficient at home."
