One traffic lane will be closed with traffic control and a reduced speed limit in place for the safety of workers and road users.
Work will be undertaken from 7am and 6pm on weekdays and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, where necessary.
The expected completion date is July 2021, with additional upgrades to start in September and continue until March 2022.
The 185 kilometre Waterfall Way that links Coffs Harbour and Armidale suffered significant damage on the eastern side of the range during recent flooding events.
While the road is open to traffic, work is continuing to get that part fixed.
