Volume three covers the lives and families of 22 individuals, including four interesting women, Mary Ann Dowson, Harriet Evans, Ellen Mulcahy, and Annie Settatree.
Not all of the individuals are well known in the Tamworth district, but these quiet achievers have all contributed greatly to the growth of our city.
Their origins and backgrounds are diverse, from USA, United Kingdom, several from Scotland and Ireland, others Australian born from Camden and Maitland.
Occupations include coachman, business owners, workers on goldfields, farmers, hoteliers and builders.
Andrew Cross was a coffin maker and undertaker with a side interest in running hotels.
The builder of Tamworth War Memorial Town Hall, Edgar George Dengate, in the early years of the depression used men who worked for the dole, many of whom had no skills. Dengate taught them the skills required to build the Town Hall.
