In fact Cr Chaffey would like to see a review into the number of police call-outs that are allocated to the Gunnedah Shire, amid what he said is a "worsening crime situation".
"In the last four years, activities certainly have increased here in the Gunnedah Shire," he said.
"I think it's important that people in local government and the entire community recognise the great work our police do.
"But also make sure that we call out to those state representatives to ensure there are adequate resources to serve our community so that justice is served for everybody and we can all feel safe in the community that we live.
"Right at the moment there is enormous pressure on the police force that serves the Gunnedah Shire."
Cr Chaffey said Gunnedah's society had "changed dramatically" over the past few years.
"With all the activities that are happening, across a broad range of issues and concerns across our community, we need a strong police force, a well-resourced police force, where we know that those people that are serving have the support around them and they're not isolated," he added.

Oxley Police District Superintendent Kylie Endemi said police are available in Gunnedah 24 hours a day, whether they're working at the police station or not.
"We provide a 24 hour service right across our communities," she said.
"We're fortunate that we have police that live in the community and if need be they're available at any point in time, so we are always there to provide an immediate service whenever anyone needs it."
