The 2020 races were cancelled due to COVID-19 and a couple more hurdles have appeared in the lead-up to the 2021 event.
Rain has hit the track in the past few days while the committee is keeping a close eye on the COVID-19 situation in Moree after a confirmed case of COVID-19 travelled through regional NSW while potentially infectious.

"If there's too much rain, it's just too muddy and can't race but hopefully - because it is lightening up at the moment - hopefully it'll be right," Mallawa Picnic Races secretary Ed Seccombe said.
"There's been mass covid tests happening today so we've just gotta play it by ear.
"Fingers crossed, it'll be right."
The committee released a statement on Facebook asking anyone required to self-isolate, who has COVID-19 symptoms or has visited Victoria in the past two weeks to not attend the meeting.
"The committee is resolutely committed to ensuring we provide a safe and enjoyable day of picnic racing, and therefore will be closely overseeing the above restrictions," the statement read.
"If you have purchased a ticket and believe you may be affected by the above restrictions, we will quite happily arrange a full refund. Please email secretary@mallawa.com.au for further details."
About 1200 pre-sale tickets have been sold and Seccombe was hopeful would run smoothly with the restrictions in place.
"It's a good, fun, family day of country racing and hopefully we can get out there," he said.
There will be five races after one was cut due to lack of nominations with the first race to jump at 1.45pm.
