Live Traffic NSW updates indicate the highway has been shut to all traffic in both directions due to snow and ice on the road.
The advice for travellers in the area is to avoid driving in the snowy weather and use an alternate route.
Update 12pm:
THE THUNDERBOLTS Way has been closed between Hicks Bridge and the Nowendoc intersection due to snow in the area.
Topdale Road, near Niangala, has also been shut as heavy snowfalls continue.
Brackendale Road, about 20km south of the Oxley Highway intersetion, is closed as a result of the polar blast causing icy conditions.
The Oxley Highway itself is open between Bendemeer and Walcha, but snow is expected to fall in Walcha later today, according to the weather bureau.
Earlier flood damage means the Oxley Highway is still closed due to landslides about 80km east of Walcha, so traffic is unable to get through to Wauchope on Oxley Highway.
Weabonga Road at Ogunbil Road has been closed due to wet and slippery conditions.

SNOW zones have become no-go zones across the Tamworth region, as heavy falls close roads and cut off communities.
Reports of up to half-a-metre of snow in the Hanging Rock area has forced roads out of Nundle to be closed to would-be tourists and snow-goers.
Routes have been closed to the general public due to icy conditions on Thursday morning, according to Live Traffic NSW updates.
Ogunbil Road has been shut in both directions, including Port Stephens Cutting. There is also no access from Nowendoc Road or Weabonga Road.

Barry Road, which also goes to Hanging Rock, has been shut to all traffic at the Nundle intersection.
Shearers Road and Morrisons Gap Road are also closed south of Hanging Rock.
Snowy conditions forced the New England Highway to be slammed shut to all traffic between Glen Innes and Glencoe early on Thursday morning due to low visibility and slippery surfaces with ice.
Diversions were in place for some time, before the New England Highway was reopened later on Thursday morning.
Heavy snow was reportedly dumped overnight in locations like Niangala, Nowendoc, Hanging Rock near Nundle and Guyra.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast more snow to fall later today in locations such as Walcha, where the roads remained open on Thursday.
Anyone tempted to go and see the snow should be very cautious - especially on slippery roads - and obey all road closed signs.
People have also been reminded not to trespass on private property to see snow, with reports drifting in of locals calling the police on those who ignore road closed signs or go where they shouldn't.
