Tamworth Public School students Lilly Cullinan, from year 6, and Winslow McDonald, from year 2, explained their works to the Leader.
They're both very excited to have been named in the list of finalists for the UNE Acquisitive Art Prize's (UNESAP) Lets Hang It! 2021 competition.

Lilly said her class was doing one-line artworks, and she decided to depict her mum.
"We were just doing something that we liked and I did my mum because I love her and she takes care of me," she said.
Winslow said his whole class used oil pastels for the sunflower works, and coincidentally, his little brother did the same in preschool.
The school's art coordinator, Sally Burrows, said she was very proud of the two youngsters.
"These will be displayed in [New England Regional Art Museum] and we find out in a few weeks who the winners are," she said.
"If they're a finalist it also means an end-of-year award on presentation day so it's just nice to recognise and acknowledge artists in the school."
The works will be on display at the gallery on July 30 until August 15, with the winners announced that night.
