POLICE are searching for a grey ute that was spotted illegal hunting at Barraba, near Tamworth.
Witnesses told police there were several reports of illegal hunters and trespassers in and around Woodsreef, east of Barraba.
Rural crime investigators have been told the hunting took place between Friday and Saturday, and involved several vehicles including a grey coloured Toyota utility with a roof light bar.
Police said that particular ute had dogs on the back of the tray at the time which were also wearing breast plates, as well as GPS tracking devices.
Rural crime detectives said the trespassing reports were on various locations in the Woodsreef area over the two days, and have urged locals to keep a look out.
