Oxley detectives and forensic police spent much of Thursday combing the unrelated crime scenes in Premer and in West Tamworth.
The cause of the deadly blaze in Premer, about 120km from Tamworth, is still under investigation but its not believed to be suspicious.
The blaze broke out about 7am on Thursday but there was little they could do to save the home.
Oxley Detective Acting Inspector Jason Darcy told the Leader emergency services discovered the body after the fire was extinguished.

"Those investigations are expected to take much of the day as we establish the circumstances surrounding the fire," he said.
No one else was injured in the blaze, but Premer Street was closed for the day while hot spots were extinguished and the crime scene was combed.
Detective Darcy said a report will now be prepared for the coroner who will rule on the cause of the fire.
Tamworth housefire suspicious
In Tamworth, police had a crime scene guard on a Goonoo Goonoo Road home for much of Thursday morning after a blaze broke out about 2.35am.
Fire and Rescue NSW deployed two South Tamworth units, along with a city crew and found a fire at the back of the home.
Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Tom Cooper said firefighters managed to contain the fire pretty quickly, and stopped it spreading to the rest of the house, as well as neighbouring homes.
Detective Darcy said the fire was being treated as suspicious, after evidence found at the scene.
"We believe the fire was suspicious and crime scene police and detectives have examined the scene," he said.
"Police are seeking any witnesses that might have seen someone or something out the front of that premises between 2 and 3am on Wednesday."
Officers have knocked on the doors of properties surrounding the house, which is opposite the Kent Street intersection, but believe someone might have been driving past at the time.
"Goonoo Goonoo Road is a busy thoroughfare and we know there was passing motorists, so tradies, farm workers, miners and other shift workers - anyone driving along that road in the early hours of Thursday, we would urge them to check any dashcam they have and contact police," Detective Darcy said.
"Anyone that might have CCTV in that area if they could look at their cameras to see if there was something not quite right in the vision, or any suspicious cars, someone must have seen something.
"And we would urge anyone with information to come forward to Oxley detectives."
It's believed nobody was home at the time but paramedics were called as a precaution.
