*RACE 1 @ 12.20pm RAPID CLEAN TAMWORTH COUNTRY MAIDEN PLATE (1000m) - Set Weights; Apprentices Can Claim:
A competitive maiden at set weights starts a very strong Monday care, and they'll all be flat out trying to stop progressive Scone three-year-old 8. THE WAYFARER (Rod Northam/Grant Buckley; 59kg) third-up. Just missed out second-up after tracking the speed as an odds-on fancy. Draws well again parking right behind the speed, and with the blinkers added, can break through.
*MAIN DANGERS: Inverell mare 12. Smart And Sassy finished full of running ridden quiet here, resuming in a stronger maiden, and can park a bit closer from a better draw. Watch the betting on 3. Nice Water fresh off a near seven week break, and blinkers come off; while debutant No Nay Never filly 11. Cunning Kitty held her ground okay in a handy trial.

Likely Tempo: Good
My Betting Attack: THE WAYFARER to WIN and Quinella: 8 & 12
*RACE 2 @ 12.55pm CONCRETE INDUSTRY SUPPLIES MAIDEN HCP (1400m) - Min Weight 56kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Tough and wider affair here with plenty of chances. Scone four-year-old mare 9. MORE OOMPH (Scott Singleton/Christian Reith; 56kg) keeps improving for a good stable and is ready to win fifth-up. Finished hard over the same trip last time despite being unwanted in betting, and even better suited here with a more experienced rider aboard.
*MAIN DANGERS: Improving four-year-old 6. Castlehyde finished nicely first-up for a new stable, and will relish this longer trip with some key gear changes. At bigger odds, pay to keep safe 5. Ambiguous who worked home okay resuming at Armidale, and this is the best draw he's had in a while. Provincial mare 8. Miss Twenty Twenty faces the starter for the 24th time from a tricky draw, but this is a little drop in grade third up. Include in exotics 10. Playing For Keeps who produced his best closing run in a long time at Gunnedah.
Likely Tempo: Reasonable to Solid
My Betting Attack: MORE OOMPH to WIN and Box Exacta: 5,6,9
*RACE 3 @ 1.35pm TAB.COM.AU MAIDEN PLATE (1600m) - Set Weights; Apprentices Can Claim:
Useful quality maiden over the mile, and expecting a few to go on to bigger things. Provincial three-year-old gelding 1. EARL OF SANDWICH (Kristen Buchanan/Ashley Morgan; 59kg) is fit and well into his prep, and drops significantly in class after battling away on a Soft 7 at Hawkesbury. Drawn to roll forward and either lead or sit right behind, and very well treated under the set weight conditions.
*MAIN DANGERS: Improving three-year-old Scone filly 10. Lapseki is a serious threat getting out to an ideal distance third-up, and drawn to get to the outside. Keep safe three-year-old 6. Quest For Honor who did his best work late fourth-up at Quirindi; while three-year-old filly 9. Desmos is hard fit and screaming for more ground.
Likely Tempo: Reasonable
My Betting Attack: EARL OF SANDWICH to WIN and Quinella: 1 & 10
*RACE 4 @ 2.10pm COOL BLUE ICE BENCHMARK 66 HCP (1600m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Staying at the mile, and a good tactical battle awaits. Keen on talented Muswellbrook three-year-old 5. CASINO KID (Jan Bowen/Chad Lever; 57.5kg) despite coming back in distance. Put the writing on the wall thundering home at Scone before finishing best as a heavily backed favourite to beat a handy CL2 field. Draws to get an ideal trail off the speed.
*MAIN DANGERS: Progressive provincial mare 4. Jaja Chaboogie finally made good on her promise charging home to win a CL2 at Port after threatening for a while. Drawn to park closer here, although this is a little tougher. Capable provincial four-year-old 6. Sapphires Son found the line well in a competitive CL4 fresh, and should settle with good cover around midfield. Be gob-smacked into next week if the winner comes from outside those three, but include in exotics five-year-old 3. Moree Dreaming who drops down a long way in grade and trip after being beaten out of sight in a string of much tougher metro races in Qld.
Likely Tempo: Fair to Solid
My Betting Attack: CASINO KID to WIN
*RACE 5 @ 2.45pm THRIFTY CAR RENTAL CLASS 3 HCP (1400m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Plenty of depth in this one too. Lightly raced US-bred provincial four-year-old 3. BERRUTI (Kris Lees/Ms Samantha Clenton a0k; 58kg) is well placed third-up over his pet distance. Only missed by a head at Mudgee on a quicker back-up, but he's better when kept on the fresher side, and this is a month between runs.
*MAIN DANGERS: Honest Coffs five-year-old 5. A Million Dreams will need to slot in from a tough barrier, but he's fit and right at the peak after sticking on well in a stronger Highway at the stand-alone Hawkesbury Saturday meeting. Ex-Qld four-year-old 14. Ziggi Rocks was terrific late first-up for nearly nine months for the new local stable, and gets a nice drop in weight over a little more ground. Improving four-year-old 7. Ficsmm Dave finished hard first-up under a big weight for an under-rated stable and second-up form is solid, although not convinced the inside draw does him any favours here. Doubt lightly raced mare 4. Lady Patricia will back up in three days after a fair effort at Scone on Friday; while five-year-old mare 10. Pluck And Lucky is capable of flying home fourth-up with a very experienced jockey hopping on.
Likely Tempo: Solid
My Betting Attack: BERRUTI to WIN and Trifecta: 3,5,14/3,5,7,14/3,5,7,14
*RACE 6 @ 3.25pm TJC WELCOMES MICHAEL BUCKLEY BENCHMARK 58 HCP (1200m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
This stacks up nicely for improving four-year-old 2. FORBIDDEN PALACE (Stephen Gleeson/Reece Jones a0kg; 59.5kg) who almost made a mockery of his big price second-up charging home in similar grade to just miss. Won third-up last prep from off the speed, and while he can save his best for bigger tracks, just needs a clear run from the 400m.
*MAIN DANGERS: Promising Scone filly 15. Cross Step hasn't started since sweeping home here to land her maiden at only second start. Draws to get a cosy run off the speed, but needs scratchings to get a run, and is more likely to go around in the next race. Tough seven-year-old 3. Manangatang has been close-up in his last couple, and won his only previous start at this track.
Likely Tempo: Solid to Good
My Betting Attack: FORBIDDEN PALACE to WIN
*RACE 7 @ 4.05pm COREY'S CATERING CLASS 1 HCP (1200m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Plenty of chances in this too. Got a stack of time for three-year-old provincial filly 10. CONFESSED (Kris Lees/Christian Reith; 56.5kg) who resumes off two tidy trials. Was close-up twice in solid company to start her career last spring before charging home to win a deep maiden at Scone.
*MAIN DANGERS: Local three-year-old gelding 3. Levi's Storm has a tonne of ability, and has been kept fresh since destroying a maiden field by more than six lengths here in early March. Clear best weighted runner after rookie rider's 4kg claim, and just has to tuck in from a very wide draw to be in the finish. Progressive three-year-old 4. Kaufusi defied a betting drift to lead all the way first-up at Gunnedah, and the third horse was well fancied earlier in the meeting. Scone filly 11. Cross Step hasn't started since that dominant maiden win at only second start, but also needs to find some cover from a wide barrier. Include in exotics 9. Cheval Cat fourth-up from a soft draw; while improving four-year-old 5. Pocket Pistol will appreciate more ground third-up and is over the odds.
Likely Tempo: Solid
My Betting Attack: CONFESSED to WIN; Box Exacta 3,4,10 & First Four: 3,4,10/3,4,5,9,10,11/3,4,5,9,10,11/3,4,5,9,10,11
*RACE 8 @ 4.40pm TJC WELCOMES MITCHELL ROBINSON BENCHMARK 58 HCP (1000m) - Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:
Trained here in the leading stable three-year-old 1. CASINO LORD (Cody Morgan/Jackson Searle a4kg; 58kg) is the clear one to beat three weeks between runs. Flashed home to just miss in a good CL3 at Narromine off a seven week break, and with the big weight off-set by a 4kg allowance, only needs clear air from the 400m to finish over them.
*MAIN DANGERS: Big watch on resuming provincial six-year-old 2. Big Surprise who returns off a quiet trial, and has a near 25 percent winning strike rate from 26 starts. Progressive three-year-old 5. Splasher won't want to drift too far back from the inside gate, but should be in the finish fourth-up with blinkers removed. Expect four-year-old mare 3. Makana to improve second-up after being run off her feet behind a smart sprinter at this track.
Likely Tempo: Good
My Betting Attack: CASINO LORD to WIN
