The council put the final seal of approval on the decision to close the thoroughfare from Scott Road to Ebsworth Street on Tuesday night.

"The resources we have thrown in there at times cleaning up asbestos and other rubbish is money that we're not going to have to outlay now, so it's also keeping a safer community which is very important," she said.
"It's just disappointing that people don't use the proper mechanisms for disposing of landfill type issues."
The councillors agreed that it was the best decision for the safety of the community.
