Tamworth Baseball Incorporated has hosted a huge carnival for more than 50 years and has asked TRC to waive an almost $5000 hire and preparation fee at the riverside fields.
The June long-weekend carnival is expected to attract more than 1000 participants and "generate substantial economic benefit to the community".
A report to the councillors submitted by TRC sports and recreation manager Paul Kelly said the event is expected to bring a $543,600 economic benefit to the city.
"This carnival has taken place in Tamworth for over 50 years and continues to provide the community with the opportunity to participate in baseball at a competitive level and showcase Tamworth's ability to host large scale sporting events," he said.
