The pair were captured by the Oxley Proactive Crime Team (PCT) just before midday on Wednesday, after an alert was issued for two women travelling in a reported stolen car in Tamworth.
The 31-year-old and 26-year-old had not been charged late on Wednesday but were being questioned by police on allegations they were armed with a knife and a syringe during the hold-up in Oxley Vale.
Police claim a Tamworth man suffered hand injuries during an armed robbery in Drummond Road about 2am on Wednesday.

"During the incident, the 26-year-old male victim received cuts to his hands when he tried to grab the knife being held by one of the offenders," Oxley Detective Acting Inspector Jason Darcy told the Leader.
"The offenders then stole a car, the victim's wallet and a mobile phone and left the scene.
"The victim managed to flee the house and ran to a neighbour who alerted police."
Officers set up a crime scene at the Drummond Road home, and forensic crews combed the house on Wednesday as detectives tried to piece together the circumstances surrounding the aggravated robbery.
An alert for the man's stolen car was issued for Oxley police, and about 11.55am, it was spotted on Werris Creek Road.
Police moved in and the two women inside the car were arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station for questioning.
They were still in custody on Wednesday night and no charges had been laid.
"We believe this was a targeted incident, and was not random, rather we believe the offenders were known to the victim," Detective Darcy said.
Detective Darcy said the man was taken to Tamworth hospital for cuts and abrasions on his hands and was treated and released a short time later.
Investigations are continuing.
