The trees were supplied by Tamworth Regional Council, in a bid to transform the block of land opposite the croquet club on Fitzroy Street.
Organiser Penny Milson said she was absolutely thrilled with the turnout.
Around 25 volunteers gave up their morning to plant dozens of trees and shrubs at the site.
Silky oaks and saltbush were among the species to be dug in.
Council also provided the mulch and the tree guards, which it's hoped will protect the plantings going forward.
After a short briefing from Supervisor for North East Parks and Trees, Steve Mcalpine, it was down to business, with even the littlest locals lending a helping hand.
