It was an epic finish to a spectacular day, which saw thousands of people and hundreds of dogs pass through the gates at Nundle Recreational Ground.
The 18-month-old winner passed the finish line just before his father, which came as a delight to owners Craig and Belinda Brennan.
Incredibly, Craig revealed Toby actually has a titanium implant in one of his front legs due to an accident with a truck a while back, but that quite clearly has not slowed him down.
Ms Brennan said a mix of fetch, farm work and good genes contribute to the duo's incredible pace, and she had full confidence in them all day.
"I had a feeling because of how fast they are and how much I exercise them, I thought 'we might have a chance today'," she said.

While the proud owners will take home a cash prize and products, Toby and Bowman will also be rewarded for their efforts with some venison now coming their way.
The big winner out of the day, however, was Nundle Public School, which raised thousands of dollars that will be used for excursions and other programs.
Principal Stephen Gadd said it was great to see a huge crowd and good atmosphere on the day.
"We've had a great turn out, the weather has been absolutely perfect, the spirit of people is great," he said.
"It amazing what happens when there's been a bit of chaos, a bit of silliness and that sort of thing, it's a really beautiful thing.
"The sense of community and pride that comes out of the community from this event is absolutely fantastic, you can't fault that."
