Tamworth will have four teams take to the field while somewhere in the region of 400 players will compete at the tournament.
One of them being Tamworth Hockey Association president Ross Briggs.
"We're looking at having at least 25 teams from across the state travelling to Tamworth to compete in this," Briggs said.
"Part of the championships is the opportunity to nominate for state selection and to go away to the national championships later on in the year."
Play begins at 8.30am each day.
