The Leader revealed on Wednesday that Darren Missen had died in Tamworth hospital from a "massive" blood clot, eight days after he had the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The 55-year-old's sudden death has devastated his family and friends after he collapsed on the afternoon of April 21. He died that night in hospital after suffering a blood clot on his lungs.

Mr Missen had been injected with the COVID vaccine on April 13.

On Thursday afternoon, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) boss John Skerritt said there was no direct link in the medical reports available.

He said the current evidence in relation to both Mr Missen's case and another reported incident of a 71-year-old Sydney man dying after the AstraZeneca vaccine does not suggest a "likely association" between the two deaths and the vaccine.

The TGA said 11,000 adverse events had been reported from 2.1 million doses which had been delivered across Australia.

The Leader spoke to Mr Missen's family members on Thursday, who asked for their privacy to be respected during this devastating time.

It's understood the answers they are looking for could take weeks as the investigation continues.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has called for calm in the wake of Mr Missen's death.

He said TGA medical experts needed to be allowed to do their job and provide advice on all reported adverse reactions.

"They went through a no-corners-cut process of assessing the vaccines in Australia," Mr Morrison said on Darwin radio on Thursday.

"Their investigators move on these issues very quickly.

"We've got to be careful about how we talk about these cases.

"Let's allow the medical facts to be established and let's make decisions to be made on facts."

Chief Nursing Officer Alison McMillan said stringent processes were in place to investigate adverse reactions.

"It's really important not to jump to conclusions here," she told the ABC.

"We have systems to look at these deaths, unfortunate as they are."
