Ambulance paramedics rushed to the accident scene off Keera Street in Bingara just before 2pm after reports the man was thrown from a horse.
Crews assessed the man, aged in his 30s, for shoulder and leg injuries.
Paramedics suspect the man suffered fractures to both of his legs in the fall, and confirmed he was in a serious but stable condition.

He was transported to Bingara hospital via an ambulance and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked from Tamworth.
The chopper's critical care medical team assessed the man's injuries on the heli-pad and stabilised him at the scene.
He was then flown to Tamworth hospital for emergency treatment.
