The businesswomen and registered nurse called on voters to break the Coalition's slim hold on the seat.
"Our community needs leaders not pretenders," she said at her campaign launch in Singleton on Monday morning.
"Unfortunately, we've been a safe seat for too long and that means we've been taken for granted."

"The Upper Hunter is unique, it's a great place to live but we're not getting our fair share.
"We're constantly told how we are the engine room of the state because of our booming mining and agricultural industries but we've been short changed and overlooked in so many things."
Ms Gilroy is the second candidate to be announced in what is expected to a tightly contested byelection.
