Shooters, Fishers and Farmers (SFF) will announce their pick today in Singleton, while announcements from Labor and Pauline Hanson's One Nation (PHON) are imminent.
Singleton Business Chamber president Sue Gilroy has been touted as a possible choice for SFF.
Labor look set to select former Muswellbrook Shire Council deputy mayor and CFMEU Mining and Energy official Jeff Drayton, however large question marks remain over who PHON may select.
This week NSW party leader and former federal Labor leader Mark Latham revealed he was considering running himself.
If he does, it appears possible he may be competing against former colleague Stuart Bonds, who was dumped by the party on Saturday.
The shock decision followed a disagreement with senators Pauline Hanson and Malcolm Roberts over industrial relations legislation.
Since then, Mr Bonds has refused to rule out running in the by-election as an independent despite previously having stated he was focused on federal politics.
The SFF candidate for the 2019 state election, Lee Watts, has revealed she too is considering contesting the seat as an independent.
Should both Mr Bonds and Ms Watts run, they will be doing so against Clarence Town construction manager David Layzell, who was a surprise victor in the Nationals preselection vote throughout the week.
