With his classically trained dancer girlfriend, Georgia Atherton, by his side, the 22-year-old prop from a Loomberah farm began his one-year tenure at South Sydney by starting in the first three rounds of the competition, after joining them from Newcastle in the off-season.
The 2017 North Tamworth premiership-winner was dropped to the interchange bench for Souths' 24-22 win over Mounties in Sydney on Saturday, but he is pleased with the way he has started at the venerable club. Happy on and off the field, Cameron has come a long way since homesickness forced him to cut short a stint with the Norths Devils in Brisbane in 2017.
No doubt, the three years the Farrer alumnus spent in Newcastle - after joining the Knights' Jersey Flegg side in 2018 - helped him adjust quickly to Sydney life.
Having Novocastrian Atherton as a support has undoubtedly also helped smooth the transition. They have dated for more than a year.
"I'm enjoying it so far - it's all going good," he said, adding: "I've probably settled in better than I thought I would; it's a lot easier than I thought is was gonna be, to be honest.
"If you're happy off the field, with all your personal stuff, it puts you in a good spot for your footy."
In December, Cameron told the Leader that he had had the option to extend his stay at the Knights, but opted to sign with the Rabbitohs because the club was a better fit for him.
The 194cm and 110kg forward believes that he has a better chance of playing first grade at the Rabbitohs.
Cameron said he was "taking it week by week" as he tried to hold his spot in the Bunnys' NSW Cup side.
"Just do a good performance every week," he added. "And that's all I can really do at this time: let my football do the talking, I'm hoping."
