Police patrolling for break-ins have charged a man with weapons offences after a Tamworth car stop.

The 21-year-old Tamworth man was still in police custody on Wednesday afternoon after being charged with three offences.
He's accused of having a set of knuckledusters, a knife and suspected stolen goods.
He was arrested on Scott Road about 5.20am on Wednesday, after he was tracked from East Tamworth by police from Operation Southbreak.

"Police responded to a disturbance, there were reports of a prowler at a premises in Carthage Street," Oxley Detective Inspector Jason Darcy told the Leader.
"Following investigations, a 21-year-old man was arrested in a car stop on Scott Road a short time later.
"In the arrest, police seized a set of knuckledusters, a knife and goods police will allege were stolen."
The 21-year-old was taken to Tamworth Police Station for questioning before he was charged with three offences.
He was subsequently refused bail.
Operation Southbreak has seen extra police deployed across Tamworth in a bid to try and combat a wave of property crime.
"Operation Southbreak continues to investigate property offences across the Tamworth community and extra resources have been deployed for patrols," Detective Darcy said.
"Police will continue to maintain a high-visibility presence and we appeal for community members to report suspicious activity or persons in the street immediately.
"Already, in the past week we have seen a number of arrests for property offences and police won't stop."
