The town is bracing for a 10m flood peak on Wednesday night but the Moree Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) radar isn't working properly.
The BoM said on Wednesday night it was working to urgently fix the radar - which is watched by thousands of locals, landholders, farmers and others - for their weather predictions.
"The Bureau is working to return the Moree radar to service as a priority," a BoM spokesperson said.

"Warning services and forecasts are not impacted.
"There is no change for BOM Weather app users as images are drawn from nearby radars, and Bureau website users can use the radars at Namoi and Grafton as an alternative."
The BoM has been criticised by locals who slammed the lack of coverage of warnings after midnight, and before dawn on Wednesday, when the water levels out of town were rising rapidly, especially in the Gravesend and Pallamallawa areas.
The BoM is responsible for issuing flood warnings and advises the SES on evacuation warnings and orders, based on weather readings.
"Technicians attempted repairs on the weather radar [on Tuesday], however there was a complex fault affecting the radar's antenna, which requires the replacement of several parts," the BoM spokesperson said.
"It is expected the radar will be returned to service as a priority this week.
"The Bureau wishes to reassure the community that its forecasts and warnings are drawn from numerous sources of observations, and there is no impact on our ability to provide those services for the Moree area."
The BoM said it would continue to keep the community informed on current weather conditions, forecasts and warnings, and urged locals to monitor the website and the BoM weather app, and always follow advice from emergency services.
