The early damage was done by opening pair Aaron Hazlewood and Troy Sands who had City 4-7 early on.
Hazlewood bowled 24 overs unchanged from one end on his way to 4-30 while Sands finished on 3-18 from his nine overs.
Dylan Smith (2-12) was also tidy for Old Boys.

The main resistance for City came from second drop Tom Fitzgerald (28 from 72) and captain Peter Mead (15 from 64) who came in at 11.
City was bowled out for 73 from 47.3 overs before Old Boys passed the score to claim first innings points.
Led by opener Simon Norvill (26) and first drop Adam McGuirk (22), Old Boys finished the day on 6-79 with Scott Brennan being the best with the ball for City nabbing 2-17 from his eight.
The day one score ended up being the final one after the pitch got a soaking. The pitch was inspected at 10am and then 12pm on Sunday when the match was called.
"The covers mustn't have worked correctly and two thirds of the wicket was wet. We were hoping it would dry out but it didn't show much improvement from 10 to 12," Old Boys captain Ben Middlebrook said.
City captain Peter Mead said it was disappointing "not to have that second crack at the game".
"There was still a lot of cricket to be played. There was a lot of time if we had started at 10am," Mead said.
"Old Boys did have the upper hand but in that amount of time anything can happen."
Middlebrook commended his bowlers - Hazlewood, Sands and Smith in particular - for setting up the win over City.
"We had to win that and we did that. I thought our bowlers were really good, took all our chances and put pressure on City's batting," he said.
While it wasn't always the plan to bowl Hazlewood throughout the whole innings, Middlebrook said "come March it's hard to get the ball out his hands".
"He's a very good finals bowler and clogs up one end and is always threatening," he said.
Middlebrook added: "Troy Sands and Aaron at the start were really good and were backed up by Dylan Smith."
After being sent in to bat, City United hoped to stay out there as long as possible but it didn't pan out that way with Mead and Fitzgerald the only batsmen to make double figures.
"There was no set target, more about time. We wanted to bat the day out," Mead said.
"Whatever runs came with that we would have been happy with but, essentially, that goal wasn't met. To score 73 was not enough runs against a quality team, even with our bowling lineup."
