Souths bowed out of the premiership race on the weekend after their minor semi-final clash with Old Boys was called-off on Sunday morning.
As the higher-finishing side Old Boys go through to this weekend's preliminary final where they will face City United. Minor premiers North Tamworth already have their place in the grand final locked in after their major semi-final against City was called off on Friday, and they advanced for the same reason as Old Boys.

Souths had Old Boys 5-71 in reply to their 94 overnight on Saturday, but no play was possible on Sunday after around 10mm fell in the morning water-logging the field.
It was a tough way to go out, and while Groth lamented what could have happened had they had even an hour at Old Boys on Sunday, their fate was somewhat of their own making.
"Obviously we finished fourth and that's where we were. You can't complain, we finished fourth," he said.
It wasn't where they wanted to be, but he felt there were a lot of positives to take away from the season.
"We've brought some young guys on this year and brought four or five guys into first grade," Groth said.
Of the side that played on the weekend five were 20 or under.
Sam Murphy and Max Keft-Gill also got their opportunities in the top grade over the season.
Groth noted the way the likes of Oliver McGill and Josh Attard came on. In Attard's case, he said it feels like he knows he belongs in first grade.
Saturday was interesting for the young quick. He had to duck away for a couple of hours to referee the FFA Cup clash between Oxley Vale Attunga and Port United.
BJ Cameron was another of the young brigade that impressed after coming down from Guyra.
Groth said he bowled really well on Saturday.
"He swung the ball both ways," he said.
He was the only bowler he saw do that.
As for who goes on to claim the silverware, for Groth it's "a toss of the coin".
"Any of the three teams can probably win it," he said.
"Norths are obviously strong in the batting department and their left-armer (Cameron Reeves) is on fire at the moment."
"City are strong, and Old Boys know how to win those games."
