Tamworth Regional Council confirmed its decision to close the pool a month early, through pamphlets handed out to swimmers on Friday.
The town pool reopened for the season in mid-December, after Tamworth was dropped to Level 3 water restrictions and after repairs worth more than $80,000 were finished.

"As the weather cools, our water temperature is dropping and our visitation at pools has seen a rapid decline," the pamphlet read.
The pool will be open on Sunday, but will not reopen on Monday morning. The "aquatic season" usually finishes on April 1.
Tamworth Regional Council told the Leader the Olympic pool would reopen to the public later in the year.
Scully Park pool in West Tamworth will remain open for swimmers until the end of the swimming season on April 1.
